25 years of healthcare excellence

Focused on client benefit

The Meridan way

What we achieve

Meridian is a specialist management consultancy focused exclusively on the healthcare sector. We work alongside NHS and public sector organisations to reduce operating costs, cut waiting times, boost productivity, and free up more time for frontline care—without compromising on quality or patient experience.

With over 25 years of experience, we are experts in service transformation, demand and capacity planning, clinical productivity, and operational redesign. Our hands-on approach goes beyond reports—we deliver and embed sustainable improvements within the same financial year.

From improving hospital flow and restructuring community service, we tailor each intervention to maximise impact. Whether it’s reducing therapy waiting times from 62 to 24 weeks, increasing face-to-face activity by 28%, or delivering multi-million pound savings, our results speak for themselves.

Our approach focuses on supporting frontline managers, where up to 90% of operational costs are controlled. By improving visibility, accountability, and day-to-day decision-making at the point of care, we embed sustainable improvements that last.

How we achieve it

On average, Meridian projects yield more than 250% return on the original investment. Meridian has a very high level of customer satisfaction. How do we achieve this?

We establish a solid foundation for a successful project through in-depth and open discussions with new clients. New relationships begin with a thorough analysis of the client’s business.

The analysis takes 3 to 4 calendar weeks and we invest between 6 and 15 man-weeks. The objective of the analysis is to ascertain the improvement potential, where it can be found and the monetary value of this improvement potential.

We maintain an open dialogue with the client throughout the analysis to ensure that we share an understanding of how an implementation project is executed.

Each abides by the Association of Productivity Specialists (APS) Code of Ethics.

History

Founded in 1997, Meridian focused on delivering hands-on operational improvements throughout the British Isles – England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. Building on our success, we worked across multiple industries before honing our expertise in healthcare — where efficiency, patient care, and cost savings are critical.

We always take a tailored approach, working closely with clients to design and embed solutions that address their specific challenges. Unlike traditional consultancies that offer theoretical advice, we work directly with frontline staff, supervisors, and managers to ensure lasting change.

From day one, we have been committed to delivering measurable outcomes — ensuring that the job is not done until the change has been successfully implemented within the client’s organisation.

As Meridian grew, we followed our clients into new healthcare partnerships, hospitals, and community settings across the UK and internationally. Our work spans acute hospitals, community health services, social care integration, and primary care, always focusing on achieving maximum ROI for organisations.

Since the start, our team has expanded to a network of over 25 experienced management consultants, each with a proven track record in frontline implementation. Our consultants are experts in delivering sustainable efficiency improvements, using well-established methodologies to ensure the long-term success of every project.

Achieving measurable and sustainable outcomes might sound straightforward, but it’s not. It requires the right combination of experience, practical implementation skills, and engagement with teams at every level. Meridian has successfully delivered over 250 projects, the majority in the NHS, generating GBP millions in efficiency savings and operational benefits.

In early 2024, Meridian joined forces with Mantec International AB, a Scandinavian change management consultancy with 30 years of experience in driving operational transformation, based in Gothenburg, Sweden. This partnership expanded our expertise and network to over 100 consultants. Today, Meridian operates as part of the Mantec Group, continuing to support the transformation and drive long-term efficiency in healthcare.

In 2025, Meridian and Mantec strengthened their expertise even further by joining forces with Andersen Consulting, further expanding our ability to deliver high-impact projects across the UK and Europe.
